June 2011
My previous website domain name KarensGen.Com lapsed and before I could renew cyber-squatters snatched it up. Their fee to buy it back was very unreasonable so I had to rename my website (the dash is added).

Haste

Ksp. Hohnhorst, Amt. Rodenberg
Landkreis Schaumburg

Church of Hohnhorst (St. Martin Church)
Curly

There are different possible meanings for the name of the village of Haste. One meaning may be derived from the Old Saxonian word harst which means interlace. Another meaning comes from the word Harsete. Sete was a basic word for settlement and Haar or Harrl which is a wooded hill between Bueckeburg and Bad Eilsen. As there is no hill in Haste, the first meaning is probably the correct meaning. Haste was founded in later years from the village of Hohnhorst. (Information couresty of Kurt Riebe.)

If you have come to my website via Ancestry: Several years ago the genealogy giant Ancestry absorbed the genealogy websites of Rootsweb along with personal databases posted at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project that included a large database of my own family information. I started using Rootsweb in 2000 and they gave us the capability to add, remove, and update our information at anytime and I used these options frequently to post correct and current data. Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them. If you find information at Ancestry with my name attached please search my website for current information, the databases posted at Ancestry contain inaccurate information. - Karen Rowe.
