Henry William Dittmer came to America with his mother, sister Dorthea and brother August at the age of eight. His father died in Germany prior to their emigration. They settled in Ender, IL. While in IL he met Louise Mary Johanna Bollmann who came from Germany when she was 22. There were married in Rensselser, IN on 23 Nov 1881. In 1884, Henry Dittmer came to Exeter, NE by train. He walked to the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Mussman, who lived east of Ohiowa, NE. He later returned to Indiana to fetch his wife and their two children. They settled on the Anton Nun Sr. farm which is located north of Ohiowa. Henry and Louise retired from farming in 1918. They were fortunate enough to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on 23 Nov 1931.
